Ever wonder this expression came from...
Well back when people lived in castles and hadn't quite figured out the whole water transport thing, they used to do their business, wipe with some straw and then use a stick to push the whole lot down the loo to the outside, normally a moat. So if you happened to get the wrong end of the stick... Awkward.
